About this salve

Neem brings a powerful smell to anything it goes into, and the usual answer is to cover it up. There's a better one. Chinese star anise softens the aroma and carries its own traditional record for calming irritated skin, so it earns the space twice rather than sitting there as a scent fix.

The rest of the formula runs the same way. Colloidal oatmeal is oats ground fine enough to stay suspended in water rather than sink, which is what lets it sit on skin instead of washing straight off. Astragalus root and nettle round it out. Nothing in here is a filler.

How to use it

Apply to dry, flaky areas. A little goes further than you think, and warming it between your fingers first helps it spread.

Keeping it

A salve has no water in it, so it needs no preservative and keeps roughly nine to twelve months. Tins are made in small batches and ship close to when they are made, so the clock starts near the day it reaches you.

This is a topical salve. It works in the skin it touches and the tissue underneath, not through your bloodstream, and it is not a treatment for a diagnosed skin condition.
